Western Way Landscapes started in 1973 as a family-owned business specializing in commercial landscape maintenance services in the Silicon Valley. It's founder, Colin Jackson was educated at Ohio State University in horticulture and had formerly worked as park superintendent for the cities of Chico and Sunnyvale as well as holding the position as general manager of the San Jose branch office of a large landscape maintenance firm before establishing his own business. Colin was one of the original contributors to the Sunset Western Garden Book, now considered the standard reference book for Western garden enthusiasts. The company grew to approximately 50 employees within several years and is now operated by the second generation sons of its founder. Scott and Todd Jackson were both educated in horticulture at Cal Poly and have cut their teeth in the business performing almost every function prior to assuming the role of President and Vice-President following Colins' retirement in 1995. Over the years Scotts' passion for the more diverse elements offered in landscape construction led gradually to the company's current focus on highly creative residential and commercial landscape projects.
